David N. rated this product on 05/02/08 WOW!!! Where do I start? - Callaway X20's start @ $699, and these start @ $149. - Great informative website. - Great CSR in Chris Carnahan. He asked questions and actually did not push the sale on my first call w/ questions, but asked me to measure my old clubs for reference and to call back, to analyze legnth, in response to the custom fitting wizard on the site. Refreshing! - My custom order (5i-9i only, TT Dyn. Gold Shafts + Lamkin Crossline Grips) shipped in 24 hours; packing was great when received, which was right on time, as promised. - The clubs just feel great, even just taking them out of the bos and practice swinging in the garage. - I moved to these from a starter set of Wilson's (really...not bad stuff) that I just never felt right with and was discouraged with irons. They had no feel, and did not inspire accuracy. - These swing great and all of a sudden, my irons feel soooo comfortable. I feel better hitting these than anything else. - After hitting many buckets at the range + 2 rounds with the Excel Strongs, I am hitting the ball very straight and true, especially on the 5i, 6i and 7i. I am so comfotable with these clubs, that I feel I can start placing the ball where I want, especially when teeing off on short Par 3s w/ 6 or 7 iron. I am still a newbie golfer and the Excel Strong's give me so much confidence that my stroke with these, help me approach my swing on my woods, hybrids and driver better. - Whenever I'm in a retail store, I pick up the X20's and realize these feel the same, at such a fraction of $. - 1 playing partner, hit his older Callaway 7i, many times in a row at range right before a round, then picked up my Excel strong, remarked of the "nice" feel, and hit his 1st shot 20 yards farther, dead straight, and remarked, "these are niiiice!" - Another playing partner frowned on the subject of anything non-brand name; picked one up, and took practice swings and said, wow!!!, these things look and feel just like my Callaway's (Big Bertha's with the same notch weighting system). Then he proceeded to tell one of our other playing guests....check out those clones....they are really nice!!! - So.....I highly reccomend these clubs, and Pinemeadow. Great job folks!!! DN
Jonthan J. Weir rated this product on 04/24/08 I have played these irons now for a few rounds. Honestly, with how bad I am off the tee, I cannot wait to get into iron range. I hit these irons very well, and with much more confidence than I have ever had in a golf club. Maybe the off-season lessons I had have something to do with that, but these Strong Irons really feel nice. I would recommend these clubs to anyone looking, can't beat this deal. Now if I can start driving the ball straight, look out!!!
Will L. rated this product on 04/21/08 I received my clubs really fast (less than 2 weeks all the way to Germany). I took them to the driving range and had a little trouble getting used to them as they were longer than my last set, but once I adjusted I found they were forgiving and added a good bit of distance. I took them out for a round this weekend and continued to see improvement as I adjusted to them. I think these are great middle-of-the-road clubs and would reccomend them for anyone who is looking to jump up from the "walmart special" sets without taking out a second mortgage!
Marlowe Guy rated this product on 04/17/08 Okay, this is my second reviw of my Pinemeadow Excels. I finished playing my second round with these clubs, and I was easily almost 10 strokes better than just days ago after getting out of the bad habits I adopted using my old irons. At one point I hit 3i off the tee, and I actually hit my tee shot a good 10 yards longer than both my playing partners...and they both hit driver. One hit the Nike Sumo, and the other has a Titleist driver. My approach shots were fluid, and I've learned that these clubs do exactly what they are designed to do. I get incredible launch with all of these irons...even the 3 and 4, which were usually not taken out of my bag with the old clubs. All I was taking was a nice controlled swing and letting the technology in the clubs do the rest of the work. I just played the round of my life, and I would be giving myself way too much credit if I said the clubs didn't make a difference. Perhaps having some new Callaway X-20's or similar clubs would make the same impact on my game, but not for the $161 I paid for these! Thanks again Pinemeadow!!!
Dave rated this product on 04/14/08 I took my set of Excel Strongs (3-SW) for a full round this weekend and I must say that I'm thrilled with the purchase. My order was just standard: the Pinemeadow grip, Apollo Stiff steel shaft, standard length. I did get the sand wedge, which I'm convinced was necessary to round out the set. My only gripe about the purchase is the web site; I wish they posted more photos at higher resolutions. But, have no fear, these clubs are beautiful and top-notch in quality. I don't feel at all like what is on the web site is deceiving. In terms of feel, these clubs got the ball up in the air great. The thick sole width puts a meaty punch into impact and it feels like no matter how you come down on the ball, it'll connect. I tried some lazy swings with them, and noticed that they aren't a cure-all for your swing, but I'd be surprised if low-handicappers topped the ball as often. The weighting feels as good as the X-20s do, and I haven't been able to notice a difference in feel. It did take some getting used to, but by the back nine, I had seriously shaved off ten strokes from my typical score. I don't know, maybe this was just my confidence going up from being happy about my new clubs, but I like to think the clubs did at least three-fourths of the work.
