Description

As seen at the Pacific Northwest Section 2008 PGA Merchandise Show, the new Doublewall 3 Wood has hit the road. With a new look and loft of 15 degrees, the 3 wood has been introduced to the golfing community.

Along with the driver, workability in the fairway wood is what we have been striving for throughout the product design on our new 15 degree three wood. It features a heal to toe groove pattern, allowing players to increase spin rates and avoid those "knuckle ball" shots that fly over the green into the hazard. The ability to hit shots at all trajectories, work the ball both ways and have confidence off the tee box and fairways are the characteristics of top three woods in the game. These features are all acquired in the Doublewall 3 Wood.

The wood also features a compact low profile head design giving you the cutting edge on those ever important long shots out of any type of lie on the course. In addition, the woods can be used to hit long but controlled tee shots resulting in more fairways and better scores.

Bullwinkle rated this product * * * * * on 06/02/10 I've had my DoubleWall 3-wood for a few years now (it's an original, not the "new look"). I have never been a consistent woods player; my strength has always been my irons, and I still use the set my dad bought me when I was 16, almost 34 years ago (Spaulding Top-Flite). When something works for you, you stick with it, right? Well I've finally found a 3-wood that 'works' for me, the DoubleWall is a keeper! I'm still not as consistent as I would like, but my confidence level with this club is greatly improved and still rising. I'm hitting straighter "more often" (no, I'm sorry to inform you that the club alone isn't going to magically cure your hook/slice and other accuracy woes), and I'm hitting the ball further than I'm used to. In fact, one of my biggest problems with this club is an increase in the frequency of having to apologize to the group in front of me for hitting into them. After decades of futility, I just can't accept the fact that I can hit the ball as far as I am now. The ball flies off the clubface, but yet has a nice soft feel to it, not like you're hitting a rock. It's just a great club all around. The one drawback I have with this club, however, is squaring the clubhead when lining up my shot; the "bulge and roll" is horrible (to me), and I can't help but wonder how much of my inconsistency is attributable just to the fact that the clubhead isn't squared properly when I address the ball. So the only suggestion for improvement that I can offer Pinemeadow is to add a center line on the clubhead or some other such visual aid if they're going to have such an exagerated curvature on the clubface. [FYI - It's even worse on the DW driver!] Other than that purely cosmetic issue, it's one heck of an awesome club! For the techno-geeks out there (like me), my 3-wood is not "stock". The stiff shaft is plus 1 inch, the grip is a Golf Pride Tour Velvet (love it!), and I upgraded the shaft, too, though I don't remember to what (there were more options available back then). I wanted a mid-low launch angle because for some reason I naturally hit a higher trajectory than normal, so the end result is more of a mid-launch for me. It is working out well. Enjoy this club, people!

D.E. said the following about this product on 12/12/08 Played a round today, it wasn't my best and I didn't have a lot of warm up time with the 3-wood but I must say that I'm as impressed with it as I am the 5-wood. On the 18th, I was able to outdrive my playing partners with the Doublewall 3-wood with both of themusing their drivers (extremely popular name brand whose model ends with a 7). I have had previous success with the Doublewall driver but for whatever reason today wasn't a day for my swing to groove with it. One of the things that amazes me with this design is the huge amount of roll that the ball has after landing. Thanks once again for a great set of woods, I'm definitely looking at the Doublewall hybrids for future purchases, although I'm quite happy with the Command hybrid 3 that's in my bag.

Joe D'Amico rated this product * * * * * on 11/22/08 I have to disagree with the previous review. I have had my DW 3 wood for about two months and I am very happy with its performance. When hit on the sweet spot with very little effort the ball just flies off of the club face with very long distance. I get a nice clean and crisp sound. I have had many of my friends try this club and they also experience the same results. It is a Great Addition and Compliments the DW Drive which is fantastic. When it comes to equipment everyone has their on expectations and as someone once told me "it's not the arrows it's the Indian"

Billy Miles rated this product * on 11/17/08 club looks great, feels great, everything about it i love except the performance and isnt that what really matters? The face is dull, dead, and it has a weak squishy feeling when you hit it. I hit my r7 3 wd. about 210-245 so i was expecting the same distance with more forgivness. But the ball came out low and rolled out to a wopping 125-175, i thought i was just having an off day so i switched back to my r7 and i was back to normal. My swing felt great the clubs feel was great but the shots just sucked. Hope this helps anyone interested in buying.
